Green Smoothies

 

If you are going to change one thing about your diet, I would  recommend starting your day with a green smoothie. Greens are some of the most nutritious foods on the planet, and adding them to a fruit smoothie is by far the easiest way to get more into your diet.

Start small, blend 2-4 fruits in a high speed blender, Vita-Mix or Nutri Bullet then start adding some mild greens, such as baby spinach or beet greens. If you take it slow you won’t even notice, but will be reaping the benefits. Pretty soon you will be able to add any greens to your smoothies and they will taste great to you. Here are some starter recipes…

Banana Strawberry Delight

2 frozen bananas (Peel your bananas and keep in air-tight zip lock baggies in the freezer)

1 cup strawberries

juice of 1/2 lemon or orange

handful of baby spinach

1-2 cups water, depening on desired thickness

dashes of cinnamon and turmeric

Blend until smooth

 

 

Tropical Delight

1 frozen banana

1/3 pineapple (peeled)

handful of beet greens

1 1/2 to 2 cups coconut water

Add ice if you want a more frozen texture and blend until smooth
